Lily of the valley is associated with the element of air and the planet Mercury, it is also one of the birth flowers associated with the zodiac sign of Gemini. Some lore suggests that Lily of the Valley grows on the graves of those who were executed for crimes they did not commit.

Lily of the Valley is poisonous to digest and can even make you sick just by handling it for to long without gloves. Please be careful when handling Lily of the Valley plants as its toxins can be absorbed through the skin.
The scent of this flower is said to attract nightingales and gives us the power to see a better world.
It is believed by some that the flower is in honor of 'Maia' the daughter of Atlas and the goddess of growth fields and spring.
The flowers are said to "Ring" when Fairy's sing and are an obvious choice for planting in a garden when you are trying to attract fairy folk. It is sometimes referred to as "Fairy Cups" and is beloved by Fae and Humans alike.
It is thought that by planting this flower in your garden it will protect the house from spirits and bad luck and has been known to protect against witches spells.
