    The Path of Marigolds

Light this flame in honor of those who came before.
Set forth the flowers, the offering, and the remembered names.
Let the fragrance rise, let the candle burn,
Let every loving memory become a bridge.

Beloved dead, you are not forgotten.
    Your names remain spoken.
    Your stories remain living.
Your love remains welcome at this altar.

Where sorrow once closed the door, let remembrance open it.
Where distance lies between us, let love cross the threshold.
    May the marigold guide you.
    May the candle warm you.
May this offering be received in peace.

We honor the lives that shaped our own.
We honor the laughter, the lessons, the struggles, and the love.
We carry forward what was given to us,
And we release what is no longer ours to bear.

To the ancestors of blood, spirit, friendship, and chosen family:
    You are remembered.
    You are welcomed.
    You are loved.

Walk beside us when we call your names,
Rest peacefully when the working is done,
And return to the realm of the beloved dead
Knowing that your memory still shines among the living.

By flame, flower, fragrance, and offering,
The bridge is opened in love and closed in peace.

    So Mote It Be.
This is the original TDC incantation for remembrance and honoring, and not a traditional culture based  prayer.
